History of Cunningham's Journal
The building carries the name “Cunningham” and “Journal” with an 1890 date. L.B. Cunningham built this building in 1890 for his publishing business. The mashup of names is how Cunningham’s Journal, the restaurant, received its name. Beginning in 1910, George H. Downing operated the Kearney Laundry and Dry Cleaners in this building. The Bricks location provides that nostalgic, college experience in their upstairs area lovingly referred to as The Loft, and a more laid back, sports bar feel on their main floor. If you’re looking for an outdoor experience that feels tucked away in a forest while being in the middle of town, be sure to check out The Courtyard which is our unique outdoor patio area.
